THE SCHOOL OF TRUTH LECTURE GOD IS LOVE, GOD IS LIGHT

God is Love. Think about this. It seems at first to be a rather vague concept, but if you meditate upon it you will realise that Love is the Life Principle, throughout all Creation. It is the omnipresent Power that expresses Itself in every atom of every thing that exists. Man is made in the image and likeness of God, therefore this Life Principle manifests Itself in me, and through me, and as me. It deeply desires a form, a unit-of-consciousness, through which to express Itself and, as this unit-ofconsciousness allows it, It expresses Itself as everything that is good, and true and beautiful. Paul tells us "Faith, hope and love abide, these three, but the greatest of these is Love." And when the disciples ask the Master what is the greatest commandment in the law, He replies "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, your soul, your mind, your strength, and a second is like it - you shall love your neighbour as yourself." This is not an injunction to comply with religion, it is recognition of the Life Principle within you, your unity with all life, and that you are one with this universal Principle of Love. It is our recognition of this Principle that makes us realise that there is only Love. As we begin to grow into this awareness, we know that in Love Itself is the unification, the reconciliation, and the harmony that we long for and need in order to go forward in life. All this Life Principle, or Love, wants is to push Itself out into form, to manifest Itself from the spiritual through to the physical as all-good. It manifests Itself in the form of health where there is disease, in the form of prosperity where there is lack, in harmony where there is discord. It releases, It does not imprison. Love is the Truth that sets you free. So, what have you got to do? The first thing is to realise that your mind is a centre of Divine activity. Divine activity is always for expansion and fuller expression of Love. Love dissolves all inner conflict that we have built-up within ourselves. Therefore you and I have got to watch ourselves for thoughts of not-Love and actions of notLove. We have to be aware of this. "How is it possible to do this? I live an ordinary life. I have my personal limitations." Let me say that as an individual you can invoke the qualities of Love. You have one of the greatest gifts of God, and that is your creative imagination. By using this creative imagination you can invoke through your own soul this Principle of Love. You can do it because you are made in the image and likeness of Love. You are the Life Principle that longs to fulfil Itself as the solution to every problem and the fulfilment of every need on this level of consciousness.

Visualise yourself standing in the radiant light of your own soul, with Love's living light streaming into your being and radiating Itself outwards into your affairs and circumstances and conditions. As you continue you will begin to realise that this power dissolves all conflict and any thoughts or memories of not-Love. You have become a receptive, willing channel through which this Power can express Itself. You are free to use the Power of Love to influence and transform every aspect of your life. You do it not because "I want to be good" or because religion or philosophy or some teaching demands it. You do it for Love's sake alone, because you recognise that you are Love, that Love longs to abide in you and in your world. At some point or other you have to unfold this Life Principle within yourself, this Principle of Love. And if you release Love, It will express Itself as the highest good, and bring about all that is good, true and beautiful. It will go before you to make the rough places smooth. Love will never leave you nor forsake you. It can't, because it constitutes you, It is you. It is the Life Principle. You are going through the experiences in life that you need in order to unfold and grow spiritually. They have been invoked by you yourself. We've reached the stage in our development where we know that everything in this universe is governed by spiritual laws and principles. We look to the great law of cause and effect, and the fulfilment of this law is Love. When we read the newspaper or turn on the television, we witness disaster, inharmony, chaos, destruction and lack. It is not happening by chance - man has invoked the law at this lower level to manifest these events. It is a God-given law but man has invoked it through ignorance, through a belief in his isolation from God. But, as he grows through these experiences, he grows in understanding, and he realises that he can work with the same law at a higher level. Man has remained in ignorance, not knowing how to call upon this Power within him.

This very Power, which the Master Jesus demonstrates, he calls "Father," and he says "It is the Father Who does the works, not I the personality. It is the Love Principle within me. I only demonstrate It, show you what It is." And then he makes this statement: "No man comes to the Father (this all-powerful Intelligence) but by me." He isn't talking about his personality as a teacher, he is talking about the Principle Which is resident in all human beings. He is saying that you will not come into contact with your God-self unless you invoke the Principle of Love. This is the mystery hid from the ages, Christ in you! You can do it, and I can do it, simply by using this creative imagination and entering the silence. Every day, spend a few moments just sitting in a chair, turning within and, in these moments of silence, visualise God's light streaming throughout your body. Experience Love renewing, vitalising and refreshing every atom of your being. Visualise the lights of Love radiating outwards into your life's circumstances and conditions and where there is lack in your life, visualise this light fully illuminating that darkened area. Visualise the personalities with whom you come into contact. Realise that this very light within you is also within them and, as you radiate it outwards, you stimulate the Love-light within them. That great initiate Paul also says "If I understand all mysteries, and give my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing." In loving God and your neighbour you are loving yourself. You are loving the very Life Principle within you and invoking It to work through you. As children we all knew the story of "Beauty and the Beast."

These stories, fairy tales, carry great inner meaning. They are symbolic. When the heroine (Soul) releases Love, the Beast (personality) is transformed. It is nothing other than the Love Principle transforming man at the lower level. And, as we are transformed, we come into understanding, and then the personality says "I know, and I know that I know. I am working with spiritual laws and principles." The Life Principle, the Love Principle, calls through your soul with a still small voice: "Fear not, because I, Love, cast out all fear. I dissolve all inharmony within you. I restore into you the years that the locust has eaten." There is no other way. You do not owe allegiance to any personality, to any group, to any organisation, to any religion. You owe allegiance to your own soul, the Christ-principle within, to fulfil its purpose to Love. And, as you do that, you are working with the law of cause and effect at its highest level. "God is Love. Love is the fulfilment of the Law and you are a unit-of-consciousness, or Love, in this great scheme." Do not fail each day to enter the silence and let Love fill your life. As you do this you find that you grow in awareness, and recognise your oneness with all Life. Divine Love is always accessible to you, always seeking you, constantly drawing you. It is the Power that fulfils Its promises through you as health, happiness, peace and prosperity, to share and to spare.
