THE SCHOOL OF TRUTH LECTURE RELEASE GOD IN YOU

"And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself." I wonder how many of you here today feel or realise that you are superior to the trials and difficulties of your life, that you are already lifted up from them? We in The School of Truth are not theoreticians. When his disciples asked the Master whether they should listen to the rabbis he said "Yes, listen to them, but do not do as they do." It is easy to read books, to take courses - there are thousands of them given across the world. Your spiritual path must take you directly into fulfilment of every aspect of your life - mental, emotional, physical and material. Like everyone else I had to start at the beginning.

When I first started to pass on my findings I did not have enough courage or self-confidence to get up and talk freely - I had to read. Before going to read my lecture I chastised myself: "You are a hypocrite. You teach people health, and happiness, and security - you have all these things but you are afraid to stand up there and talk in His name, on His behalf, because of your self-consciousness. Here is the acid test - go unprepared. Throw away the lesson you have written. Practise what you preach." I remember to this day how very nervous I was. My mouth was dry. There was a lump in my stomach, my knees were shaking. I read a meditation from Frances Foulkes' book "All things make new" and then closed my eyes and said to God "Either I am going to make a fool of myself or the words will flow." And I found to my astonishment that ideas began to flow into me, that I was listening to myself, listening to myself quite objectively speaking on Truth. That was a long time ago. We can call on God for all things. It is when we rely entirely on Him, when we have put ourselves past the point of no-return, that we experience this uplifted consciousness, ascension from the negative and fearful to the positive, that which is Truth. There is one thing I have not yet overcome. It is not to be disappointed by students who fail to apply Truth in their daily lives. I should give what I have to give and leave the rest up to the individual, but so far I cannot let go. I feel like a teacher with a class of children, and to the best of my ability I impart my knowledge and I am hoping they will make it their own, apply it. But many of them are lackadaisical - they cannot be bothered. For them it is too hard to control their thinking and feeling and actions, and they fail their tests. To me it is also my own failure. Where am I lacking in disseminating what I have? But the Master did not say "According to my faith it is done unto you." He said "You take up your bed and walk, and according to your faith, or the way you believe, it shall be done unto you." I have observed how paralysed people have literally grown new nerves and "taken up their beds and walked" - because they believed in what we teach. And belief is not yet faith, for faith is knowledge based on experience.

Even though I have seen so many of these cases I still marvel at the wonderful way this natural law of thinking and feeling and acting comes into expression when people have the courage to take the practical steps, when they simply believe. I still wonder at how marvellous God is, in the lives of people of every background and every religion. People call it miracles but it is the working of natural Law. So show me, get up, do the thing. When I was short of money, and all I had was seventy-five cents, I looked at that as a fulcrum "the little leaven that will leaven the whole" and I used it fearlessly in the knowledge that God flows through me as I permit Him. If you do not accept God's supply and let go emotionally, you can become physically ill, develop ulcers, have a nervous breakdown. If you do not give materially your supply stops. Your hand, my hand, is the hand of God - open or closed. Say to yourself "What is the best meal I can buy with the little money I have?" It may be only a roll and butter but truly you are spending your consciousness, not money. We are the one hand of God giving and receiving - two ends of the same thing. This is what the ascension of Jesus-Christ means to me - the uplifted consciousness. I have risen above materialism and its limitations, above judging by appearances, and know that constituting me in every cell of my being is God, Goodness, Which is eternally available as I accept It. It can never be polluted by flawed thinking and feeling. It awaits us, infinitely abundant, ever pure. I cannot create things, but I can create separation. Everything we can ever need is already extant on this plane of consciousness.

All the power in the universe, all the prosperity, all the joy, all the health, are flooding us from our spiritual centre to the circumference of our bodies. We have the key that unlocks these qualities or dams them up. Let go of your fear. It is inverted faith, faith in nothingness, and according to your faith so is it done unto you. Fear comes from you trying to hold on to something. Rather let it go, give it to God, and you find it grows and develops and expands, and more and more of Godness, or Goodness, flows through you. So what is your consciousness today? What is holding up your good? Where are you imposing limitations? I ask myself the same questions because I cannot afford to place limitations on myself. My hand is His hand, free and open. I dare not close it. I know that God in the midst of me is almighty to release Himself. Obey this Divine discontent within yourself. Let go. Stop limiting yourself. Stop seeking specific ways to obtain health or joy or security. The Master teaches "The kingdom of God is within you." Masters many centuries before him teach precisely the same thing. Release It, let It free.
