THE SCHOOL OF TRUTH LECTURE THE ONLY ONE

In April this year I read in the newspaper that within two months a certain religious group was going to present the world with the Christ, and all the world's media would participate. But the Master says "You do not know what day your Lord is coming. Therefore you must be ready; for the Son of man is coming at an hour you do not expect." The Christ is your true Self, a new consciousness that comes into you, reveals Itself within you, to you. So I had to reject this worldly pronouncement in the newspaper.

About 50 years ago another religious clique intended to present Krishna Murti, a young Indian man they had adopted as a child, as the reincarnated Christ, the new messiah. But in this case the adoptee rejected them himself, and rightly so. He was a wonderful man. What is this Jesus-Christ consciousness? How does it affect us and from where does It come? It is a raising of the intellect into Mind, It comes from within, and it changes our whole outlook on life. When I was standing in the foyer before this lecture a lady came up to me and said she had met a man in a bus. He told her he had had many bone fractures, that they had all healed perfectly and that only Jesus had done this for him. She mentioned The School of Truth but he reacted strongly - it was an anathema to him, the work of Satan. I reminded the lady of the Master's words "I have other sheep that are not of this fold." The Master's teachings may be followed sincerely from several viewpoints. I have walked along the path of Truth for 51 years. What I teach is not simply a projection from books or the teachings of others but is from the Christ-presence within me. It has guided me through many traumatic experiences and become absolute reality. It constitutes all of us regardless of apparent differences, and loves us all regardless of our beliefs: "The Father judges no-one, but has given all judgement to the Son." This "Son" is not Jesus the man, but you and me, the sons and daughters of God. We judge ourselves through our separation from God the good, or through integration with this wonderful Presence in Whom I find no fault. This Presence says through the words of the Master "I do not condemn you; go, and do not sin (separate yourself from God) again." This Presence is indefinable, yet knowable - through the feeling of security within oneself of Omnipresence, Omniscience and Omnipotence.

This Presence has provided all things for us, has already fulfilled them in us, as us, as ideas. People find this so difficult to understand: "I haven't got it, so surely I must look outside of myself for it." But they are unable to see what is in them because their "eye", their understanding, is not sound. My happiness is a state of awareness. It is loving you that makes me happy. It is not what you do or what the world does, but what I think and feel and do that brings about my freedom. And my health? It is already in every cell of my being and is released when my understanding opens my life to the light of All-good. God is me and, because He is me, He expresses through me as love and security and everything that I need. But I must let Him through; certainly I must never look outside of myself for my good. For 45 years I have been trying to instil into the people with whom I have come into contact that they do not have to depend upon any human being or any human resource but that the one true Source of all good is cognizant of their need and is yearning with infinite love to express Itself in whatever form we may require It, in measure that is running over, to share and to spare. They say "How can I believe something that does not exist? My heart is empty of love, my body is sick and in pain, and my supply is very limited." But the Master of spiritual things says "Do not judge by appearances. Judge with righteous (or right) judgement." What is this Presence within me? What is this yearning within my mind and heart for the qualities of good in my life? Is this not the voice of God telling me what is mine, yearning for me to take it because He is impotent to fulfil Himself in me if I am limited in my vision, if I observe separation for Him? Faith is knowledge. This little light bulb in front of me has just enough power to illuminate this podium, but behind it is all the power of the power station. If I need more light I must install a larger bulb and, if this is inadequate, a larger one still. I can go on and on like this until I am blinded by the light. Always is there enough power.

Our awareness of inadequacy, or Divine discontent, the longing to be up and doing, is the call of God within us to allow Him to do His works in and through us. I spend my time discharging fear. I too read the newspapers, look at television, listen to the radio. All day long I observe negation in letters that we get from our students in every stratum of society. I am aware of what is happening around me and even more aware that it is because there is so little faith in Omniscience, Omnipresence and Omnipotence. Some tell me I must not put my head in the sand like an ostrich, but I must, because if I attribute reality to what is happening in the world I will become a very frightened man. These things will affect me and cause me to limit my expectations. In all these years of lecturing from various platforms and walking along the path of Truth I have found that, in spite of conditions and the pressure of circumstances, God is always greater - if I summon the courage to release Him. I repeat; I spend my time discharging my fear, denying the problem, exposing darkness to Light, looking back to the wondrous good that has been fulfilled in my life and in the lives of so many others, in the lives of people of all religious backgrounds. We determine the amount of God-ness that is going to be fulfilled in our minds, our hearts, our bodies and our affairs. No-one else determines it. God does not restrict. There is no devil leading us into temptation. Everything rests on ourselves, consciously ourselves. Therefore, if you come and tell me you have found the Christ somewhere on this worldly plane of consciousness, I will say to you "You mean a reflection in someone of the goodness of God, a manifestation of the Christ-consciousness that inhabits all humanity, all peoples everywhere." There is no person or group of people who can interpose between you and your goodness, or God-ness. Even if the whole world appears to be against you, with God you are supreme. You may be tested to the very utmost, even beyond the eleventh hour, but there you will find the hand of God, uplifting, protecting and guiding you. I cannot see any limitation in God.

I have never found Him restricted. Doors that have to be opened are opened - often ones that I did not foresee. But this comes only because I have walked towards the spiritual Presence within myself. And It looks upon all human beings as temples of Itself. We are all one Presence but in different states of expression through awareness. We stand next to a tower. From the base all we see is very little of our environment but as we go higher and higher we see more and more until eventually we declare in joy "But here is the world. Come up here with me. Come and enjoy a greater vista." And even high up we are seeing only the beginning of the beginning. If I go in a plane I shall look down and say "Here is God, and there is God, and God is above me" and if there are clouds above and below me I will say "Beyond these clouds is Infinity." Every plane that I put my foot, every place in the universe, is permeated by the presence of God, the Presence of love and goodness, the Presence of harmony. What are you going to do about it? What are your thoughts and feelings at the moment? How sad that people do not realise that their every sincere effort, modest as it may seem, releases the immeasurable Power of God. Progress is like a tree - its growth above ground must be matched by development of its roots deep into the ground. Then it is stable, reliable, anchored in the good earth. Do not be disheartened when there is no apparent development in your life. Do not sit on the fence and go the way the wind blows. Do your part as a student of Truth. Become a little fulcrum of change, the little leaven that raises the whole, that helps to raise the minds and hearts of those about you. If you are right with God you have nothing in the whole world to fear. Some people whom I know that have been walking along the path of Truth as long as I still do not understand what "I am" means. What is this "I am"? It is the only One in the universe, manifest in myriad forms on all planes of consciousness.

The presence of the Life Force within me is saying to me, and to you, at this moment "I am the seen and the unseen, the intellect and the Mind, the heart and the Soul. I am everything that is good and wonderful and beautiful. I am all that is real fulfilled." My intellect speaks back to Him through my heart "I have nothing whatsoever to fear, nothing to fear." Is this not straight forward? Does this not include everybody? Is not the common denominator when we face each other this "I am"? We are different personalities, of course, all walking along the path of Truth in our own way, but ultimately we clasp hands in Divine unity. Therefore it is my duty to make you realise your responsibility to God. There are no other hands in the universe but your hands and my hands, no other voice but your voice and my voice to spread universal harmony, universal Love. I do not mean proselytizing. As you radiate joy you experience joy, as you give security you become security. "I am" manifests in you as you as He passes through you, as you. There are no "pieces" of God that you can claim, but only the whole of God - the corporeal and the incorporeal. The Christ-consciousness, or the awareness in man of God, longs for realisation in all. I take myself to task every morning when I wake up and every night when I go to bed, and my prayers embrace all humanity. My thoughts reach out to all people everywhere. I recognise them all as the presence of God in this standard of life, this tiny school.

In my Father's house (my Father's universe) are many planes of consciousness. Do we have to come back here lifetime after lifetime? If you want to believe it is alright with me. I believe that there is no death; there is constant progress, just as we start in the baby class, then go to primary school, then to higher education, then to the school of life itself, and on and on and upwards, always growing in God-awareness. Your mind is His mind, changeless Omniscience. Your intellect is the amount of Mind that you have allowed to infiltrate, and you express this in your daily living. Our greatest task here is to eliminate the inverted faith we call fear- fear of people and conditions. As Roosevelt says "There is nothing to fear but fear itself." Fear blocks good in us, manifesting as negation and destruction. Always I think of teachings of the Master, as fresh today as when he uttered them and as fresh in me as the day I first heard them: "It is the Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom." The Father, or the Father-Mother God, is the symbol of Love, devoid of any element of fear. If you know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the Father-Mother God fulfil Himself as goodness through you. Are you the microcosm, greater than the Macrocosm? Is your tiny atom of love greater than universal Love? I do not believe in Utopia because we all have so much to learn. It has to be drawn forth from within us.

First there has to be harmony in families, among colleagues, between neighbours and countries. The real question is "How may I help you? You see, I am walking along the path of Truth with you. I know some of the challenges." You and I are playing a harmonious chord or a discordant one, are we not? Let us look at ourselves fearlessly, critically, and say to ourselves "I want to have this Jesus-Christ-presence, the risen-Christ-consciousness. I want to be like this Presence. Help me to be kind, and loving, and forgiving, and understanding. Become, through me, the Truth that makes me, and others, free."
